Speed is the outcome of both the athlete’s physical capacities and their technical skill. It’s imperative that an athlete is able to apply force to the ground in the most effective means possible to maximize their speed. Sprint drills are exercises that can be used to familiarize an athlete with concepts and coaching cues that can be used to improve an athlete’s running technique. In this episode, Coach Young steps us through his most favorite speed and power drills for improving sprinting mechanics.
