Three-quarter court sprint, reactive pro agility, and lane agility drills at the NBA Combine in Chicago utilize Fusion Sport Smartspeed Timing Systems.
The NBA Draft Rookie Combine is a multi-day showcase that takes place every May in Chicago before the NBA Draft. At the combine, invited college basketball players receive measurements, participate in interviews, undergo shooting drills, take medical tests, go through five-on-five drills and perform various athletic tests in front of NBA coaches, general managers, and scouts.
In the three-quarter court sprint, reactive pro agility, and lane agility, athletes will be evaluated on their linear speed, reaction time, lateral agility, and change of direction. Elite athletes are often separated by only tenths of a second. The Smartspeed Timing System has been a critical tool for evaluating prospects over the past nine years and will continue to be used this year in their testing. The above drills are initiated on the athlete’s movement, removing the possibility of operator error and allowing Smartspeed to provide reliable and consistent results, and data accurate to 1/1000th of a second.
The NBA Rookie Combine skill evaluations take place on Thursday, May 11th and Friday, May 12th in Chicago at Quest Multisport.
